Call for Artists: Dark Art 2018

This October join us for the second annual Dark Art exhibition presented by the Syzygy Collaborative Art Project. Syzygy will be jurying this collection of the finest works celebrating the darker themes in art in various media including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and photography. This array of the ghoulish and macabre will be on display in the main gallery of the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center in downtown Fort Myers. The opening reception will take place Friday, October 5th during Art Walk (6-10pm), and will feature local live entertainment including burlesque, body painting, and live painting. To submit artwork for consideration, please follow these guidelines:
*Artists may submit up to FOUR pieces for consideration. (There is no submission fee)
*All media is accepted, including sculpture. There are no size restrictions, so long as the piece will fit through standard doorways and is ready to display.
*Please send quality images (no more than 3mb in size) labeled appropriately for identification purposes (ex: lastname_title.jpg) attached to an email sent to syzygycollab@gmail.com
*Make sure to include the following in the email body:

Artist’s name(s), Title, Medium, Dimensions, and Retail price (include 40% to venue, artist retains 60% of sales) for each submitted work.
Please include “Dark Art submission” or something to that effect in the subject.

IF YOU ARE MISSING CRITERIA YOUR SUBMISSION MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED.

*Artists not from the Fort Myers area are responsible for any and all shipping costs for the delivery of accepted artwork and the return of unsold work.
*Pending acceptance, artwork must be ready to display. 2D work must be ready to hang with hanging wire or appropriate hardware, and sculpture must be free-standing. Pedestals can be provided for small-scale 3D works.
*Artwork must have been produced within the past 12 months. Art previously exhibited at Dark Art will not be accepted.
**Most importantly, artwork must adhere to the theme of ‘dark art’. This includes, but isn’t limited to: monsters, magic, witches, zombies, creatures, nightmares, surreal hellscapes, skulls, spirits, ghouls, demons, devils, ghosts, etc. The purpose of this show is to encourage artists to explore these themes and the darker spectrum of thought and imagination.

The Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center is located at 2301 First St, Fort Myers, FL. The exhibition will run from October 5th through October 21st.
